Fully titled and subtitled, A dispensatory, or commentary on the pharmacopoeias of Great Britain (and the United States) ; comprising the natural history, description, chemistry, pharmacy, actions, uses, and doses of the articles of the materia medica. This is the Second Edition, Revised and Improved with a Supplement, Containing the Most Important New Remedies, with Copious Additions, and Two Hundred and Thirteen Illustrations by R. Eglesfeld Griffith. The First Edition was published in 1842; this edition was published in 1848 by Lea and Blanchard. Overall in VERY GOOD CONDITION. Clean full ORIGINAL LEATHER BOARDS. These boards have been treated and sealed, and retain a softness with very minimal spine cracking. Clean black title box with clear gilt titling. Boards with light to moderate edge and corner wear. There is some previous owner pencil and ink markings on the first free endpaper, and a book store stamp behind front board. BEAUTIFUL B&W ILLUSTRATIONS THROUGHOUT. 1008 clean and solidly bound pages with no interior marks. The book ends with a 32-page (numbered) bibliography of medical texts by Blanchard and Lea.
